I can’t believe it’s been a year since my mother’s life was cut short by cancer. This time one year ago, I was huddled in a hospital room with my family watching anxiously as my Mum walked the thin line between this world and whatever comes next. In about an hours time, as we all struggled against the tiredness, Mum took one final breath, and then silence. The battle was over.
I’m reminded of the emotion in that room, as the duty nurse checked Mum’s heartbeat, and softly uttered the words; “rest in peace”. We were all broken.
I’ll never forget the gentle, loving woman that left us too soon and I’ll never forget how strong she was through the struggle. I miss you Mum, hope I’m doing you proud.
